Italy to Greenland: Why My Halfday Bags Earned Their Place
Travel gear earns my recommendation by being useful on an actual trip. My Halfday wheeled bag and duffel proved their value on two very different journeys: Italy and Greenland.
Italy: Packed for Peace of Mind

For Italy, I packed three sport jackets, three days of clothing and a few extras in my Halfday wheeled bag.
My checked bags made it to Rome, but I had packed with a backup plan. If they hadn’t arrived with me, I would have had enough clothing to enjoy the first few days while sorting things out.
The value wasn’t simply how much I could pack. It was knowing I had what I needed with me.
My takeaway: even when you check luggage, keep enough clothing and essentials with you to manage the first few days.
Greenland: Five Days in a Duffel

For my Greenland adventure, I used the Halfday duffel to pack five days’ worth of clothing.
This time, my goal was to travel with less luggage and minimize checked-bag costs on smaller-airline flights, including Air Greenland. Packing around the length and needs of the adventure helped me focus on what deserved space in the bag.
Five days worked for my packing choices. Your results will depend on clothing size, layers, shoes and the other items you bring.
Which Would I Choose?
The wheeled bag suited my Italy packing needs, particularly with three sport jackets and additional clothing.
The duffel worked well for my more compact Greenland packing plan.
I would choose between them based on the itinerary, what I needed to carry and how I expected to move through the trip.
Before flying, check your airline’s cabin-bag dimensions, weight limits and fare allowance. A bag described as “carry-on” still needs to meet the rules for your particular flight.
For me, these bags earned their place by helping me prepare for two different travel needs: having a backup wardrobe for Italy and packing efficiently for Greenland.
What’s your approach: check a bag, carry on, or a little of both?
